Brief Description
Shalom Arts team curates National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts Public Art Project with the theme of “Dancing with Heart”. The four public artworks both share the same concept from the organically shaped architecture which is designed by the Dutch architect Francine Houben.
Hsu Tang-Wei’s Flowing Layers is made of colorful layers, wrapped around the power transformer and lighten the street. His another landmark artwork Star of Hope brings a light visual aesthetics to the center. The colorful stainless steel tubes frozen in the air create a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere. The line and the shape of these two sculptures both reflect the dynamic topography in the center for the arts, inviting the viewer to the space.
Lee, Yi-Hsun’s Seasonal Movement transforms the shared sensation of music into visual image. In addition, it incorporates the common flora and fauna in the surrounding environment. The geometric shapes and lines, the flow of musical notes and bright colors present the changing seasons through these elements. His another work Dancing under s Banyan Tree was inspired by the memories of Taiwanese people watching performance in the shade of a banyan tree in the past. It also complements the undulating structure of the architecture, which is also inspired by the beauty of the local banyan trees.
