Brief Description
The Council for Cultural Affairs established the Public Arts Awards in order to encourage the artists, the curators, and the organizers who have been dedicating themselves in public art field over the years. Shalom Arts Consulting gained the experience from the First Public Arts Award, continuing to undertake the Second Public Arts Award. After the thorough review, the jury of the competition selected 26 artworks, including the “Utopia of Togetherness” project by Department of Cultural Affairs Taipei City Government, the “Bamboo Fellow’s Peaceful Corner – Village Living Space Transformation by Art” project by the Togo Agricultural Village Cultural Society in Tainan County, and the “Joyfulness and Happiness” and “I’m in the Clouds Jen Mei Elementary School” project. These projects are different from the usual public art, because it adds many public events, juxtaposing the artwork with the environment, the ecology, the local history, and the creation of the surrounding community. Moreover, it demonstrate the diversity of public art in Taiwan.
Execution Process
Convene the jury to discuss the national public art site visit, Listen to the briefing and learn about every artworks and the condition of the site, installing process. Select six awards: the Excellence Award, the Best Planning Award, The Best Organizer, The Education Promotion, The Best Public Participation Award, The Best Creativity, and The Best Environmental Integration Award.
