Brief Description
The Zhongli Service Area is not only the nexus of Taoyuan International Airport and major cities, but also the service plaza of the highway. Shalom Arts team incorporates the natural elements into the artwork, such as artificial ponds, lotus leaves, and animals. Through this lovely artwork, we introduce the tourist to learn about the local culture in Taoyuan, hoping that this art experience can become one of the splendid memories while they are travelling. Our director Chen Hui-ting invite local artists Jian Shen-Min, Chen Li-Xing, and Deng Hui-Fen to create three sets of public artworks in the Service Area. These three artists who are residents of Taoyuan area create these artworks through their unique prospective, providing the viewer imagination and touch their heart.
The sculptors Jian Shen-Min and Chen Li-Xing create two sculptures collectively for this project. One is a work entitled Delicate Lotus Fragrance with flowing elegant lotus leaves and lively colors. With their playful postures, these three gorgeous geese lull the viewer into the scene. The artists have seamlessly integrate Taoyuan‘s unique features into the artwork, giving visitors a relaxing atmosphere.
Their second artwork entitled Taste of Sweet Donuts is inspired by how guests in the highway service plaza indulge themselves in culinary delights. The artists create several colorful and delicious-looking doughnuts using hard materials such as stainless steel and granite. It shows an image of smooth and warm, and fluid texture of sugar melted in one’s mouth. This scrumptious artwork then transforms the fountain plaza at the Zhongli Service Area into a children’s paradise, allowing guests to rest and have a state of happiness during their journey.
Deng Hui-Fen’s artistic benches entitled Hakka Homes Bedecked in Tung Flowers are consisted of the images of Taoyuan street houses and Tung flowers, showcasing the natural and cultural environment around the Zhongli Service Area. The elegant and refined colored ceramic panels give visitors a sense of warmth.
