Brief Description

We are using ISO Remix as the theme for the public art curation at the National Taiwan University, which attempts to provide a diversified aesthetic experience that echoes the respective disciplines and interests of students from a variety of majors, invoking a new type of feeling in the campus space.

In traditional photography, ISO (International Organization for Standardization) means film speed. Photography is also related to the printing industry, as it produces images of light and is even more so the basis of action photography; the higher the film speed also means the higher the sensitivity to light in the darkness. Photosensitivity is not only just like artists using special media to capture images that portray the perception of the National Taiwan University campus, but it is also an analogy for the expansion of personal aesthetics. Having such keen sense of good things can produce benefits for spirituality and sensibility.

Our curation seeks to be interdisciplinary, with a conventionality of exploring knowledge. Three resident artists Chien-Ming Huang, Wan-Xuan Tsai, and Duncan Mountford differentiate between targeting Image, Sound, and Object in creating the art. Overall entitled ISO, such technique simultaneously also corresponds to the eyes (sight), ears (hearing), and sense of touch; integrating to the body, mind, and spirit and emphasizing the form and concept of the artwork. Another focal point of this curation is Remix: once again blending and emphasizing the active campus culture, aimed towards this schoolwide public art installation project. It will do integrated planning on various existing on-campus educational resources and public artworks in their current state, as the creative process requires communication and interaction to be completed. This curation is inspired by the senses, thinking deeply, and interaction; making it the best demonstrative curation. This project, which was created by resident artists, was awarded the Ministry of Culture’s 6th Public Art Award “The Promotion of Education Award”.
