Brief Description
(Poet∣Kang Yuan)
People love travelling, perhaps it is because they want to seek the wisdom to solve their problems in life. We installed two sets of public artwork at T2 in Taoyuan International Airport. Shalom Arts Consulting, Inc. planned an artwork entitled Traveling with Wind Stretched on the upper floor, south side of observatory deck on the fifth floor. The artwork portrays the vivid image of children greeting the travelers warmly. On the lower floor of the observatory deck, the artist Hsu, Tang-Wei installed an artwork entitled Floating Travel, a set of 12 pieces of abstract sculpture like the suitcases, inviting the audience to touch and appreciate it. Two sets of artwork both use suitcases as a metaphor to illustrate the travelers’ excitement of departure, and to start the first step of the grand tour.
Traveling with Wings Spread out Artist∣Yu, Den-Chuan Poet∣Kang Yuan Seated on the luggage, brothers and sisters slide onto The top of the clouds, traveling around with their wings spread The clouds linger in the mountains unconsciously The wind moves across the ocean They search for the stars and the moon to travel together, Leaving the sweet marks of dreams in the sky Traveling thousands of miles is better than reading thousands of books We are all adventurers, pursuing our dreams Canoeing on lakes and rivers through days and nights Polishing the night sky with rapt of attention Leaving is always for the happiness of returning home And the charming melody of hometown (Poet∣Kang Yuan)
Floating Travel Artist∣Hsu, Tang-Wei The work consists of 12 suitcases floating in a subtle curve of a circular space. Each suitcase is uniquely out of shape, for they were once fully packed. The artist Hsu, Tang-Wei uses the dots and lines of the constellations, which represent the travel routs between cities on a map. At the same time, the constellations in the circular space reflect the image of the dome. The 12 astrology signs on the handles of the suitcases represent the inclusion of all personalities, allowing travelers from all over the world to carry the luggage that suits their individual needs and roam freely.
